He keeps taking my things without asking me.

Conflict is part of everyone's life.

It will show up at school, at work and at home.

It's OK to feel angry, disappointed or sad, and these feelings are natural.

Remember, it is how you deal with them that makes the difference.

Some people shout and say unkind things,

try to get back at or even hit the person who has hurt them.

Others do their best to avoid getting into disagreements.

In this way, they never really need to express how they feel when something is upsetting them.

It is not easy to deal with conflict, especially when emotions take control.

In fact, dealing with conflict is a step-by-step process.

Before you start discussing the problem,

cool off, count to 10, take a deep breath and imagine a relaxing place.

Then, say what's really upsetting you, but watch how you express yourself.

Don't say it was the other person's fault.

Share how you feel by using 'I' statements.

For example, don't say 'You are always bossing me around.'

Instead try saying 'I feel upset because you don't pay attention to what I think.'

Finally, if you want people to listen to your opinion, make sure you listen to theirs.

Pay attention to what the other person says and accept that he or she might see the problem in a different way.

Be open-minded, be willing to say sorry and move on.

Lots of people fear delivering a speech in front of others within a given time.

And most feel nervous the first time they do it!

Here are some ideas to make sure you won't 'dry up' the minute you go on stage!

Feel confident

It all begins on the inside.

You won't feel confident if you're not confident about your material.

If you deliver your speech with your head down and a sad look on your face,

you won't connect with the people you're speaking to,

no matter how good your speech is.

Look up at the ceiling just before you go in front of everyone,

because this will make you feel more confident.

Stand up straight with your head high —

a good trick is to look at a person towards the back of the room.

Look down at your notes only when you are moving on to the next point.

Sound confident

A boring voice is not interesting to listeners,

and a quiet voice is hard to hear.

Again, record yourself.

Do you sound confident with what you're saying?

If not, you have to raise your voice.

Speak loudly and clearly.

You don't have to shout —

just think about that poor person at the back, trying to hear you.
