He borrows a high-interest loan from his landlord, Huang Shiren. 他向地主黄世仁借了高利贷。
He has no way to pay off the debt. 他没有办法还清债务。
On the eve of the Spring Festival, 春节前夕，
while Yang Bailao and his only daughter Xi’er are preparing for the new year, Huang Shiren arrives. 杨白劳和他唯一的女儿喜儿正在准备过年，黄世仁来了。
He forces Yang Bailao to sell Xi’er for the debt. 他逼迫杨白劳卖掉喜儿抵债。
Then, Xi’er is taken away to Huang Shiren's house and she suffers a lot. 之后，喜儿被抢到黄世仁家里，受尽了折磨。
With the help of Aunt Zhang, X’ier runs away. 在张大婶的帮助下，喜儿逃了出来。
She hides in a cave all alone for three years and her hair turns white. 她独自躲在山洞里三年，头发都变白了。
That is the reason why she is named the White-Haired Girl. 这就是她被叫做“白毛女”的原因。
The founding of the People's Republic of China finally gives her a new life. 中华人民共和国成立了，她终于迎来了新生活。

If you closed your eyes and listened to the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, 如果你闭上眼睛听卡特乌拉回收乐团的演奏，
you would never guess that they were playing instruments made from rubbish. 你绝对猜不到他们演奏的乐器是用垃圾做的。
This amazing group of young musicians live in a small town in South America where life is very difficult. 这支了不起的年轻音乐家团队住在南美洲的一个小镇上，那里的生活十分艰苦。
It has got a large landfill. 那里有一个大型垃圾填埋场。
Most of the people who live there recycle or sell rubbish to earn money. 大多数住在那里的人靠回收或者售卖垃圾赚钱。
For years, young people in this town had no hope of a better life. 多年来，这个镇上的年轻人都没有能过上更好生活的希望。
Now, though, music is changing everything! 不过现在，音乐正在改变一切！
It all started one day in 2006 when an orchestra visited the town. 这一切都始于 2006 年的一天，当时一个乐团来到了这个小镇演出。
The director of the orchestra, Favio, noticed that a lot of young people attended the performance. 乐团的总监法维奥注意到很多年轻人都来观看演出。
So he decided to start an orchestra for young people in this town. 于是他决定为这个镇上的年轻人创办一个乐团。
There was a problem, though. 不过有一个问题。
People couldn't afford to buy any instruments. 人们买不起任何乐器。

They used knives and forks to make saxophones. 他们用刀和叉来制作萨克斯管。
They collected old paint tins and oven trays, and turned them into violins. 他们收集旧油漆桶和烤箱托盘，把它们改造成小提琴。
