Making Resolutions

Do you know what a resolution is?

A resolution is a promise that you make to yourself.

People make resolutions to improve their life.

The most common kind is a New Year's resolution.

After all, the start of the year is often a perfect time for making resolutions.

Resolutions can be about anything.

Some are about physical health.

For example, some people may promise to exercise more or eat more healthily.

Some resolutions have to do with learning new things.

People might decide they are going to take up a hobby, like painting or photography.

For example, a student may decide to start a new study plan.

Although there are differences,

most resolutions have one thing in common:

People hardly ever keep them!

But there are good reasons for this.

Sometimes the resolutions may be too difficult to keep.

To make your resolutions work,

Telling China's Story

Many people around the world like to include staying healthy in their New Year or birthday resolutions.

Some of them even make a year-long health plan.

People in different countries have their own ways of health planning.

Chinese people usually turn to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

According to TCM,

the first thing we need to do is to prevent health problems before they happen.

In this regard, TCM holds that lifestyle is closely connected to health,

and we should take care of our health every day.

We can do this by managing our feelings,

getting enough rest, eating well, and following good habits.

TCM is also helpful when we are sick.

It helps stop the sickness from getting worse.

And it prevents our body from losing too much energy.

After we get well, if we follow TCM advice,

we are supposed to eat light food that is easier for our body to digest,

The Ant and the Grasshopper
